On the Island Online Gambling is a legal licensable activity and Online Gambling Licenses are available from the Gambling Supervision Commission.

We have been actively involved in this sector since its inception and have assisted numerous companies to obtain Online Gambling Licenses on the Island.

Under the Online Gambling Regulation Act 2001 all forms of online gambling with the exception of spread betting are licensable. A licence allows an operator to conduct multiple forms of online gambling all under one licence. For example, an online bookmaker would under its Isle of Man licence be able to conduct casino games, poker and other forms of gaming in addition to its core business of bookmaking.

The Isle of Man is on the UK White List and as a result Isle of Man operators are allowed to advertise their services in England.

Online Gambling duty is as follows:

  • for gross gaming yield not exceeding £20 million per annum 1.5%
  • for gross gaming yield of more than £20 million per annum, but not exceeding £40 million per annum 0.5%
  • for gross gaming yield exceeding £40 million per annum 0.1%
